Boards and plain language

A note on briefing non-executive directors without either condescension or fog.

Directors read quickly and remember slowly. A briefing that respects both facts is short, front-loaded and free of the internal vocabulary that makes an organisation legible only to itself.

If a sentence would need explaining across a dinner table, it needs rewriting before it reaches the boardroom.
